Save the Date! Amazing Graves–Ghosts of Sand Lake on Saturday and Sunday, October 15th and 16th!

Who am I ?

I was a woman  born in 1857 and named for the Republican abolitionist candidate for President of the U.S.  As a young woman, I painted portraits of my family members.  Six times I sailed past the Rock of Gibraltar and through the Suez Canal, and  I wrote  five books about my adventures.

You’ll find the answers on Oct. 15th and 16th at Amazing Graves-Ghosts of Sand Lake.

The Sand Lake Union Cemetery is the resting place for many fascinating people. Visit grave sites on guided tours where actors will portray nine of our ancestors. Visitors can park at the Sand Lake Town Library, board a bus and be escorted to the cemetery. Bob Moore, town historian, will also create an exhibit at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts to enhance your experience. All proceeds will benefit the Sand Lake Town Library. More details to follow but make sure to put this one-of-a-kind event on your calendar today!

Saturday morning we will be “up-cycling” wine bottles into citronella candles.  We have enough supplies to do another 6 candles.  It’s quick and easy and adds a unique touch to those late summer nights on the patio!
