Summer Reading Program

We have all types of activities going on this summer for kids of all ages! You can pick and choose those activities that work best for your family’s summer.

The theme this summer is “Make a Splash – Read!” for the preschool and elementary school children, “Make Waves at your Library” for the Teen Group, and“Water Your Mind” for the adults.

Registration begins on Saturday June 26th. Please stop in to sign-up and get your packet of information including a calendar of dates and times for the various groups and activities.  Children and adults can also sign up and keep track of their reading on-line (click here).

Programs start June 30th (Adults start July 5th) and end with a program by “Dazzle Dogs” on August 14th.

READ FOR PRIZES:

Bring in your reading records/calendars each week to collect prizes.  Turn in your Reading Records between August 7 -11 to compete for TOP READER prizes, given to those who read the most minutes in their age group.  Adult readers will participate in random weekly drawings.

PROGRAMS:

For the pre-school set: Fun storytimes and some hands-on activities Thursday mornings at 11:15.

For the 5-13-year olds: crafts, science experiments with water, aquatic life under a microscope, etc. (Wednesdays afternoons)

For the Teens: crafts (Tuesday afternoons)

SPECIAL KICK-OFF and WRAP-UP PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES:

Saturday, June 26th from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Saturday, August 14th at 1:30 p.m.





Pre-school Storytime: Join Ms. MaryMargaret for a special storytime every Thursday at 11:15 am (except when the library is closed).  Stories, songs and rhymes followed by a simple craft.

Book Discussion Group: Come the first Wednesday of each month for a lively discussion.  Meets at 7pm in the Sand Lake Town Library William Kennedy Program Room.  Book lists for the coming months are available at the library.

Library Board of Trustees Meetings: The third Wednesday of the month at 6:45 pm.  Public comment is welcomed.

Museum Pass Program: This year again we are offering passes to Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge and to the Clark Museum in Williamstown.  These passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis to Sand Lake Library card users.  Passes are available for three days only with no renewals.

On-going Displays: Come and see displays of local artists in the William Kennedy Program Room, as well as various display in our display case.  If you are an artist and would like your work displayed contact us at 674-5050.  We would also love to discuss displays of collections and hobby items.

On-going Used Book “Sale”: Come in and find that fiction, non-fiction, paperback, or children’s book you’ve been looking for.  For a small donation, you can stock up for summer reading at the beach!
